We all know how much the Greeks love to party. Breaking plates and dancing till the wee hours of the morning are very common amongst us Greeks, both young and old. However, no Greek celebration would be complete without a mouthwatering Greek delight.
Eating amongst the Greeks is a major social occasion, and you'll never be invited into a Greek home without being treated to a multitude of Greek feasts. There is no such thing as small meals, when at a Greek home, make sure you come prepared to eat like a king.
The Greeks eat more lamb than any other kind of meat, but a wide variety of fish and Mediterranean sea food is also consumed. Greek food is almost always cooked in, or contains olive oil. A variety of spices are also used, but Oregano is among the most popular.
Well known Greek dishes include souvlakia (similar to kebabs and shwarmas), Moussaka (the famous eggplant casserole), Gemista (tomatoes or green peppers stuffed with rice and meat), Tsatziki (the well known yoghurt, garlic and cucumber dip) and of course Baklava (crushed nuts in phylo pastry topped with lashes of syrup).
